A Dublin clinic's latest Insta post is a huge reminder that you should only get lip fillers from a professional
IT’S DEFINITELY BEGINNING to look as though fillers have had their day.
Celebs are ditching them, and last week’s Late Late Show featured the harrowing testimony of Carol Bryan, who was left severely disfigured after a dermal filler procedure went wrong. Carol Bryan had previously worked as a model, and was talked into getting the treatment to keep an edge as competition from younger models crept up on her career. Unfortunately, she had a horrible reaction to the fillers, which she discovered were permanent and had been used on her in a way that wasn’t recommended by medical professionals.
It’s easy to look at Carol’s case and think, “Oh, well dermal fillers are a bit more extreme, there are no risks with lip fillers.” Unfortunately, that’s not entirely true. Last night, The Consultant Clinic, an aesthetic clinic run by doctors with branches everywhere from Dublin and London to Dubai and Los Angeles, shared another horror story to their Instagram.
They wrote:
You can probably imagine what’s coming next.
Serious warning here that the content below is EXTREMELY graphic.
To give unwitting viewers who are scrolling without properly reading another chance to get out, we’re just going to stick in The Consultant Clinic’s initial post about this case.
Okay, absolute final warning here. This isn’t pretty.
The Consultant Clinic added:
While lip fillers still do (and always will) appeal to people, and can do a great deal to help improve confidence in a lot of cases, it’s worth educating yourself on the potential risks – particularly what can happen if you do not get lip fillers from a licensed medical professional like a doctor, nurse or dentist. If you notice any complications, you should get in touch with a doctor immediately.
Sometimes your symptoms won’t be as obvious as the ones presented by the patient above, but if you’re in any kind of doubt or feel that something’s not right after getting lip fillers, it’s best not to take the chance.
